Adelaide Masters members swim informally between Henley Beach and Grange jetties (2km) every weekend (9.30am Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) between October and April. Meet at the car park near the Henley Beach Jetty. A few hardy swimmers swim all year round... email us for more information if you are interested!
Formal Open Water swimming events are held throughout the summer from December through to the end of March at metropolitan and country beaches.
Water Cover is provided by the local surf clubs and the swims are generally followed by a get together for lunch at the local surf club to compare feats of valour over a few cold glasses of your favourite beverage.
The 2009-10 Open Water Swim season calendar of events is available from the SA Branch website.
Adelaide Masters organises two OWS events: - the Glenelg OWS associated with the Bay Sports Festival at the end of December: choice of 2K or 5K in a loop which starts and finishes at the Glenelg Jetty.
- the Captain's Cup, a 2K or 4K linear swim in the Brighton area.
The 2009 Glenelg OWS will be held on Monday 28 December 2009. For complete information, go the Clubs Online website. Entries are now open. The 2010 Captain's Cup will be held on Sunday 21 March 2010. This season it will be held between Somerton and Seacliff (4k). A 2k option will also be provided, between Brighton and Seacliff.
